We respect your right to privacy and protect your data. This policy explains what information the App processes, why we process it, the legal basis for processing, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / EU 2016/679).
Consent to terms
By using GonguZen you agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Data collection
Personal data
GonguZen requires no sign-up, no user accounts, and we do not collect direct personal data such as name, email, or phone number.
Local data
Meditation stats, streaks, settings, and completed session records are stored exclusively on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your phone and is removed when you uninstall the App.
Anonymous analytics and diagnostics
The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google LLC) for anonymous performance monitoring and crash reporting. Processed data includes: anonymous instance ID, device model, OS version, timestamps, event types, and crash logs. None of this can be used to identify a specific person.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) - improving stability and quality of the App.
Retention: anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 60 days; crash reports for up to 90 days, in line with Firebase defaults.
Feedback
If you submit written feedback through the in-app rating prompt, your message and rating are sent to our Firestore database with a timestamp. We do not associate this content with any device identifier and we cannot identify the sender. Feedback is used solely to improve the App.
International data transfers
Some of our processors (Google LLC, RevenueCat, Apple Inc.) operate servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Such transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) under Article 46 GDPR and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
Subscriptions and purchases
Premium purchases (Yearly subscription and Lifetime one-time purchase) are processed by RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., U.S.) and the Apple App Store / Google Play. We only see an anonymous subscription status, not your payment details or identity.
Children's privacy
GonguZen is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided data through the App, please contact us at privacy@sommer.media and we will remove it.
